Obama, Curry Celebrate MBK Rising!

by

NBA star Stephen Curry was humbled by an event celebrating the 5th anniversary of My Brother’s Keeper, now known as MBK Rising!  The initiative was spear-headed by former President Barack Obama after the death of Trayvon Martin and he vowed to keep it going after his presidency.

Steph shared the stage, in front of a group of young boys, with the former president. In an Instagram post, he said the experience was “unreal.

“Unreal experience sharing the stage with #44 @barackobama. Celebrating the 5th anniversary of @mbk_alliance and galvanizing the community to support our boys and young men of color!”

During the anniversary event he shared a non-fiction reading list the he said he hopes will provide some essential context about the challenges that many people of color face every day.

During what was dubbed town hall with the Obama and Curry answered questions from young men of color about their upbringing, his advice and what he sees as necessary for young people to be successful in America.
