Oprah Winfrey gets the bio treatment with two-part docuseries from Apple TV+

by

ABC Oprah Winfrey‘s life story is headed to the small screen, thanks to Apple TV+.

According to Deadline, Apple has ordered a two-part docuseries about Winfrey from Academy Award-winning director Kevin MacDonald and executive producer Lisa Erspamer, the team behind the recent Whitney biopic.

Deadline reports that the new doc will “chronicle 25 years of American history through the lens of one show and one woman, who rose from humble roots” to eventually become the actress, media mogul, billionaire, philanthropist, and agent of social change we see today.

The new doc will also be a re-teaming of Winfrey and Erspamer, who have a longstanding relationship from when Erspamer produced The Oprah Winfrey Show between 1999 and 2009.

Winfrey’s two-part docuseries joins a growing list of unscripted shows from Winfrey’s multi-year partnership with Apple. Those projects include The Oprah Conversation, Oprah’s Book Club and Oprah Talks COVID-19, which are all currently streaming.
