PJ Morton announces his upcoming gospel album featuring Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams and more

PJ Morton has announced his upcoming album, The Gospel According to PJ, featuring heavyweights such as Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams and more.

On Monday, the Grammy-winning artist shared an animated video on Instagram of a phone conversation, where he shared the exciting news with his father, legendary pastor and gospel icon Bishop Paul S. Morton.

“Hey Dad…I’m finally doing a gospel album. A day that we didn’t know would ever come,” he told his father, before revealing he couldn’t read music. “You always told me you prayed over my hands.”

PJ recalled writing songs on the piano organ at his father’s church, while he gave announcements. 

In another post, he shared the album’s tracklist which features appearances from other gospel favorites J. MossKim Burrell, Mary MaryLe’andria JohnsonSmokie Norful, and more. 

Five of 13 tracks on the album are “done,” while others are still awaiting vocals or being mixed including a track titled “Here He Comes Again” with The Clark Sisters

The Gospel According to PJ arrives on August 28th.
