Timothy Hiatt/WireImageIt will be quite a while before Grammy-winning musician PJ Morton is able to get back on stage for live performances, due to COVID-19, but that gives him more time to ready new music he wrote or produced with other artists.
The singer/songwriter and producer confirms he’s currently working on new Monica‘s new album, Chapter 38, expected later this year.
The two have worked together before, of course. During a 2018 trip to work with PJ in New Orleans, Monica said their sessions were filled with “soul, serenity, [and] passion.” PJ tells ABC Audio he recently brought Monica back to his hometown to work on new music.
“I brought Monica down to New Orleans some months ago — well, last year — and we worked on some stuff for her album,” he said.
Also around that time, Monica was shooting the third season of VH1’s T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle show.
“I know she’s on the TV show with T.I. right now and I know she’s preparing to put out some music,” PJ says. “So I should be on there somewhere, so definitely new Monica, new Monica!”
Though there’s no official release date for her new album — Monica’s first full-length project since 2015’s Code Red — PJ seems pretty excited for us to hear her new music that he helped create.
T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle airs Monday, April 15 at 9 PM on VH1.
