Courtesy of PJ MortonGrammy-winning musician PJ Morton debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums Chart with his new, first-ever gospel album, Gospel According to PJ.

In less than two weeks, since its release, PJ managed to dethrone Kanye West‘s 18-week consecutive streak for Jesus is King, on the chart dated for Sept. 12.

“This album was a labor of love,” Morton says in a statement. “So for people to be supporting it the way they are, lets me know that it was truly ‘All In His Plan.'”

This marks PJ’s second solo #1 following “All in His Plan,” featuring Le’Andria Johnson and Mary Mary, which topped Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart last week.

For his sixth-studio-album, Morton returned to his New Orleans gospel roots and showcased his songwriting skills with fresh interpretations of some of the hits he’s penned for his favorite gospel stars since his adolescence, to deliver some much-needed inspirational music.

Gospel According to PJ is available everywhere featuring gospel legends Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, The Clark Sisters, Commissioned, Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and more, as well his father and pastor Bishop Paul S. Morton.
