Pop Smoke‘s debut album, Shoot For the Stars, Aim For the Moon, returns to top Billboard’s 200 album list for the second time.
With his posthumous debut, the late Brooklyn rapper managed to beat 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode 2 by nearly 1,000 copies.
On Monday, 50 Cent, who executive produced Pop’s album, took to Instagram with the news about Pop’s album and to pay respect to Savage Mode 2, which sits at #2.
“This [album] number one again @roddyricch,” 50 wrote. “I told you she want to [mess] with the Woo, but I ain’t gonna front that 21 Savage [music] is slapping. They both #1 to me right now.”
Shoot For the Stars, Aim For the Moon originally debuted at #1 after its release in July, just months after Pop was fatally shot and killed during a home invasion in Los Angeles in February.
SFTSAFTM has steadily remained on the chart’s top four spots, after selling 67,000 units its opening week and landing 19 tracks on Billboard’s Hot 100. The deluxe version of the album was released on July 20th on what would have been his 21st birthday.
50 also appeared on the album’s standout track “The Woo” featuring Roddy Ricch, one of four tracks still holding on the Hot 100 chart.
According to Chart Data, Pop Smoke has become the first rapper to return to top the Billboard 200 chart with a posthumous album this century.
