Post and delete: Chris Rock under fire after posting tasteless meme about Whitney Houston

by

ABC/Randy HolmesIt’s safe to say Whitney Houston fans were not amused by Chris Rock‘s recent joke about the legendary singer’s drug addiction.

It all started when the comedian posted a now-deleted meme of Houston looking annoyed in an interview. The text on the meme read, “Me sitting in a meeting that could’ve been an email.” While some fans found the meme to be funny, many became upset once they realized that Rock had added his own caption.

“Hurry up I got crack to smoke,” he wrote underneath the image, as captured by ShadeRoom.

Fans took Rock to task in his comments section, calling his caption tasteless and insensitive to the memory of the iconic singer, who battled drug addiction and was found dead in a bathtub in 2012 with drugs in her system.

Legendary singer Bobby Brown, who was married to Houston from from 1992 to 2007, also chimed in, calling out Rock for being disrespectful.

“During this time of women empowerment you chose to use your time to try and humiliate our Queen!!!” he commented, captured by TheShadeRoom.

“I thought you was a friend of the family,” he later added.

Since deleting the controversial post, Rock has yet to respond to backlash or post anything new.
