A Seagoville church community is mourning the death of their pastor and first lady. Pastor Eugene Keahey and his wife DeAnna were among three victims of a house fire Thursday in Cedar Hill, that is believed to have been intentionally set. Keahey pastored Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Seagoville, and formerly served as youth pastor at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas.
According to CBSDFW, there were three survivors, and witnesses reported hearing gunshots before the house went up in flames.
Police have not revealed how the victims died.
Meantime, there are reports of several cryptic social media posts by Pastor Keahey in the days and hours before the tragedy. According to NBC5, Cedar Hill police officials said,
“About three weeks ago, Keahey changed his cover photo to a picture with the words, “We all have secrets.”
Pastor Keahey also ran a non-profit organization and was often seen delivering safe drinking water to the poor town of Sandbranch, according to CBS 11.
The family may have been going through tough financial times, according to reports.
Now that next of kin has been notified, I can confirm the triple fatal fire in #CedarHill happened at family home of Pastor Eugene Keahey (seen here taking water to Sandbranch). IDs of those killed have not been released. 1 survivor still critical. https://t.co/hFm3wOvddf @NBCDFW pic.twitter.com/vK0LRyEryH
