Rap icon Kurtis Blow has chimed in on the ongoing ‘blackface’ controversy, most recently, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring’s admission that in the 1980, as a 19-year old college student, he chose to honor the rap legend by wearing blackface. Herring says it was for a party where fellow students dressed as artists they liked. He says he dressed up as the rapper wearing a “wig and brown makeup,” to perform Blow’s songs.
Now, an ordained minister, Blow tells TMZ that even though Herring was a fan, what he did by wearing blackface was a “disgrace.” And, he gave props to late night talk host Jimmy Fallon for not donning blackface when he performed one of his songs on the Tonight Show … Watch
