Beyonce reportedly is looking to fight her father, Mathew Knowles, in court.
In Touch Weekly reports the singer is seeking ownership of the Destiny’s Child brand from Mathew, who still owns the rights to their name and music.
“She’s ready to take action,” a source tells In Touch. “Beyoncé is going to sue her own father. She’ll take him to court to show that she deserves the rights to her own band.”
Although Mathew is rumored to own at least 25 percent of the Destiny’s Child brand, the source tells the mag that his percentage is closer to 100 due to contracts that favor his stake in Beyonce’s career as well as those of Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
“Mathew wants a Destiny’s Child reunion so he can see another payday,” says the source. “Up until this point, they have let him get away with it, but they want to perform Destiny’s Child music and make their fans happy — without Mathew making a profit.
The source adds, “Beyoncé never wanted to sue him, but he’s given her no choice. He won’t allow them to use their own name — unless he gets paid.”
