Missy Elliott is coming to The Voice. The rapper will reportedly appear on season nine of the NBC singing competition series as a mentor to Pharrell Williams‘ team, a source tells Us Weekly
The pairing shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise, though, especially since the twohave been working on Missy’s upcoming album, her first since 2005’s The Cookbook. Pharrell, who is executive producing the set, recently posted a Twitter photo of himself alongside the female emcee.
In addition, the source adds that pop singer Selena Gomez will serve as Gwen Stefan‘s mentor, rock legend John Fogerty will help out Adam Levine’s team, and country star Brad Paisley will be the mentor for Blake Shelton’s contestants.
The mentors appear on the show during the battle rounds, right after blind auditions. The new season of The Voice returns on September 21, at 8 p.m. ET.
