Robin HarperRachel Roy made an abrupt exit during the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards Monday night, apparently avoiding Beyonce and reigniting rumors that she may be the “Becky with the good hair” Beyonce name-checks on Lemonade, according to the New York Daily News‘ Page Six.
The fashion designer, who’s refuted claims that she was the alleged mistress of Jay-Z as referenced in the song Sorry, arrived with model Candice Huffine, posed for pictures, and apparently left before Queen Bey arrived onstage to accept her fashion icon award.
A source from the event told Page Six, “she disappeared with her place card and never came back. It was weird. I don’t know if it was because she’s ‘Becky,’ or what?”
A friend close to Roy explained to the gossip site that Roy left the awards because she had to catch an early flight the next day to be with her kids in LA.
Rachel Roy previously released a statement in regard to the “Becky” allegations, saying, “There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”
