Researchers: Coronavirus Could be Spread through Farts

by

Giving new meaning to the phrase, “Silent but deadly,” researchers in Australia have determined the coronavirus could be spread by passing gas. Dr. Norman Swan, who hosts the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s “Coronacast,” says the gas that’s ejected when someone farts can contain tiny particles of feces. While underwear and pants are pretty efficient at stopping the pieces of poop from becoming airborne, a bare-butt emission by someone who’s infected could spread the virus, he says. “Luckily, we wear a mask, which covers our farts all the time,” Swan says of butt-covering clothing. “I think that what we should do in terms of social distancing and being safe is that you don’t fart close to other people and that you don’t fart with your bottom bare.”

Do you have someone in your family who thinks it’s funny to loudly pass gas?
