Rihanna‘s trendsetting style has garnered the attention of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The singer will be honored with the coveted Fashion Icon Award at the organization’s upcoming 2014 Fashion Awards, taking place later this summer.
The council selected Rihanna, who launched her own collections with River Island, for having style that has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage. She follows a glamorous list of past winners including Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.
“We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO.
In collaboration with crystal manufacturer Swarovski, the ceremony will take place on June 2 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York. The event will be live streamed via cfda.com.
