KRNB – Janelle Monae was among a host of awardees at Thursday’s Billboard Women in Music Awards.
The event honored women in the industry from top execs and more. Presenters included Alicia Keys, Patti Labelle and more, while honorees included Monae who was awarded the Trailblazer Award, SZA, Cyndi Lauper and Woman of the Year recipient Ariana Grande.

Monáe looked back on a year of professional and personal milestones while accepting the Trailblazer award.

In other Janelle news, she was on set of CBS ‘This Morning’ when she got the news that her album ‘Dirty Computer’ was nominated for a Grammy.
Visibly emotional, she told host Norah O’Donnell:
“This album is so much bigger than me,” Monáe said. “It’s not about me, it’s about a community of dirty computers, of marginalized voices.
