Simone Joyner/Getty ImagesRun the Jewels surprised us over the weekend dropping an exciting new single, “The Yankee and the Brave,” ahead of their highly-anticipated album RTG4

The rap duo — comprised of Killer Mike and El-P — shared the new single, dubbed “the jump the street corona edition,” on Instagram. El-P explains the song is “something for all of you to hold you down in strange times,” meaning of course the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. He later added, “Thank you for being so patient we hope it brings you a little joy.”

Killer Mike and El-P have been talking about Run the Jewels 4 for quite some time, and now fans have an exciting taste of what to look forward to. Like their previous albums, RTG4 will be available for free on all streaming platforms, although a release date has yet to be announced.

“This is for anyone who doesn’t feel like they have a budget for music right now or for anyone who isn’t sure they f*** with us yet, El-P tweeted.

Run the Jewels’ previous album, Run the Jewels 3, was released in 2016 featuring the certified-gold single “Legend Has It,” which was featured in the movie Black Panther.

Run the Jewels was scheduled to go on a global tour with reunited rock band Rage Against the Machine this May, but those plans were postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus.
