Saweetie calls out Warner Records for prematurely releasing new song featuring Doja Cat

Saweetie is frustrated with her label, Warner Records, after her new single, “Best Friend,” ft. Doja Cat was released to streaming services before she felt it was ready.

“I am extremely disappointed in my label WBR for prematurely releasing a single I was excited about,” the “ICY” rapper wrote in a series of tweets Thursday evening. “I feel disrespected. I’m hands-on with all of my creative and had such a dope rollout for “Best Friends.” The thirst for clout & [money] is real and it overrrides the artists’ art.”

Saweetie went even further, explaining that the leaked version was not the final mix, adding, “The wrong version at that smh like wth?”

Above everything, Saweetie was mostly disappointed, considering the many hours of work that went into creating the visual elements for “Best Friends.”

“We put so much work into the visual & we shot for days for this super cinematic girl anthem and for this to happen? Wow…,” she wrote in another tweet.

The good news: Warner Records heard Saweetie’s complaints loud and clear and quickly removed the song from all streaming services.

This is a big deal for the Bay Area rapper, who has been preparing for the release of her debut album, Pretty B**** Music, which is expected to be released early next year.

Over the past few months, Saweetie dropped her singles “Back to the Streets,” featuring Jhene Aiko, and “Tap In.”
