Joe is nearly a month away from releasing his upcoming album, Bridges, which he says will serve as a nod to traditional R&B music. The singer explained what fans can expect of his follow-up to last year’s DoubleBack: Evolution of R&B.
“This album represents the growth of R&B,” he said in a statement. “I went back and took some courses in old school — studying Marvin Gaye and Earth Wind & Fire and The Commodores, even New Edition. I took it even further back to the ’50s and ’60s.”
He continues, “This project says to core R&B fans that I’m here and I got y’all back!”
The disc will arrive June 23 via Sony RED. The set will include Joe’s Kelly Rowland-assisted single “Love & Sex (Part 2)” and contributions from Derek “DOA” Allen, Edrick Miles, Gerald Isaac and Taj Jackson.
