The Travis County sheriff’s office in Austin, Texas says “several” boats sank Saturday while taking part in a water parade on Lake Travis in support of President Donald Trump.
“We responded to multiple calls of boats in distress, several of them sank,” but there are no reports of fatalities or injuries and investigators have not determined how many boats sank on the lake near Austin, according to sheriff’s spokesperson Kristen Dark.
Investigators do not suspect foul play and there was no indication of an intentional act, according to Dark.
Many people who commented on Twitter suggested that there were too man boats in the water, to include small boats that may have taken on water because of choppy waters.
Why did the Trump boats sink? Because of poor boating etiquette.
Responsible boat owners are thoughtful with what their wake does for smaller craft.
Trump supporters just didn’t care, which is perfectly on brand for a political movement signifying selfishness. pic.twitter.com/9AmNY7YRkF
