Sevyn Streeter Accepts 76ers Apology; Reschedules Basketball Game Performance

by

Dennis LeupoldSeyvn Streeter and The Philadelphia 76ers appear to be on good terms again.

Sevyn claimed that her national anthem performance was cancelled in late October because she wore a “We Matter” jersey during a game between the Sixers and Oklahoma Thunder.

But on Sunday, the vocalist addressed her fans on Instagram, explaining why she decided to accept the basketball team’s apology.

“After a meaningful dialogue with the 76ers organization, I have accepted their apology. In order to move forward, it was important to me that we take action and use this opportunity to create positive change and dialogue throughout the community,” she begins.

“The Sixers and I plan to work together through multiple community outreach programs to promote inclusion and acceptance,” Sevyn adds.

Sevyn’s previously-cancelled performance has been rescheduled to December 16. On that date, the singer plans to wear her now famous “We Matter” shirt as the Sixers take on the Lakers.
