Snoop Dogg explains his Gayle King comments on ‘Red Table Talk’

by

Eric Michael RoyLater today, Snoop Dogg will appear on a special episode of the Facebook live series Red Table Talk, which will feature Jada Pinkett-Smith, her daughter Willow and her mother Adrienne confronting the rapper about his comments regarding Gayle King and her decision to question former WNBA champion Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant‘s 2003 rape case.

In a sneak peak teaser, Jada revealed her “heart dropped” when she heard his response, prompting her to want to have a conversation with him, “in the spirit of healing.”

“I felt like, not only were you talking to Gayle, you were talking to me,” Jada says. “I said, ‘Oh, no, Snoop has now taken his power flow away from me, away from Willow, away from my mother. I was like, ‘Not Snoop.'”

Snoop later explains his intentions behind his harsh comments in another video.

“I wanted to make sure that what I said was said the right way, and I wanted to make sure that the message was across, that we love Kobe, and ‘Be respectful of [his wife] Vanessa and them kids,'” he said.

“That’s what the whole intent was, to protect that woman and her babies over there because she’s still grieving. Let’s give them that respect,” he added.

The Cali rapper publicly apologized to Gayle King for “overreacting” and not handling his emotions correctly.

You can watch a teaser clip now and tune into Facebook Watch today, February 26 at 9am PT / 12pm ET for the full episode.
