ABC/ Fred LeeIn light of the COVID-19 global pandemic and the government compelling people to stay at home to reduce the virus’ spread, the annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards will be uplifting hearts at home with a two-hour gospel music special.
Hosted by multi-Grammy winning artist Kirk Franklin, The Stellar Awards: Music of Hope special will feature songs from previous Stellar Awards performances by Gospel greats like Tamela Mann, Donnie McClurkin,Yolanda Adams, Dottie Peoples, Bebe and Cece Winans, Hezekiah Walker, Mary Mary, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Marvin Sapp and more.
There will also be performances by Pastor Shirley Caesar, Patti LaBelle, Karen Clark Sheard, Lecrae, VaShawn Mitchell, Marvin Sapp, Brian Courtney Wilson, and Israel Houghton.
Fans will also get to relive Michelle William‘s performance of “Say Yes” with Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé at the 2015 Stellar Awards. Last year, BET acquired the rights and will to air The Stellar Awards, featuring a posthumous tribute to the Queen of Soul and ICON Award winner Aretha Franklin.
Rising Gospel singers Koryn Hawthorne and Jonathan McReynolds were set to host the 2020 Stellar Awards’ 35th-anniversary celebration, which has now been tentatively rescheduled for Aug. 14-16.
The Stellar Awards: Music of Hope Special will air from April 11 through May 24th on Bounce TV at 12 PM EST.
