Summer Walker cancels 20 tour dates due to her “social anxiety”

by

Interscope RecordsSummer Walker has canceled 20 shows on her First and Last tour as she copes with mental health challenges.

“Unfortunately I’m not gonna be able to finish this tour because it doesn’t really coexist with my social anxiety and my introverted personality,” she said in an Instagram video. “I really hope that people understand and respect that, at the end of the day, I’m a person. I have feelings.”

“I get tired. I get sad, and it’s just a lot and so I don’t wanna lose myself for someone else,” she continued. “I wanna give y’all what I can, so I’m gonna keep making music and I’m gonna do a few shows but I can’t finish.”

The “Girls Need Love“ singer will still perform November 25 in Toronto, followed by shows in Chicago, Royal Oak, Michigan; Boston, Philadelphia, New York City and her hometown, Atlanta.

On November 3, Summer hinted she was ready to quit music after being dragged online for revealing that she prefers to bathe in a bowl, rather than take a full-blown shower while on tour.

“I’ve decided y’all don’t deserve me lol, I knew from day one I was to real for this s***. y’all can have the music & im a just head out,” she commented on Instagram at the time. “F*** the interviews, photo shoots, videos, & really the shows too.”

“I’m not bout to start acting different, talking different, treating people different, or looking different. people really expect too much from you,” she added.

Walker released her debut solo album, Over It on October 4 and it made history by earning the biggest streaming week ever for an R&B album by a woman.
