RCA RecordsSZA, Whoopi Goldberg, Giants runningback Saquon Barkley and more New Jersey-born stars are helping to raise money for healthcare workers with a one-hour benefit TV broadcast amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bruce Springsteen made the big announcement Tuesday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, revealing details about the Jersey 4 Jersey event. The broadcast special will honor healthcare workers, first responders and other essential employees, and offer information on how to curb the spread of the virus.
“New Jersey has been hit especially hard by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Springsteen, “and the people of New Jersey have always stepped up during difficult times.”
Other New Jersey natives such as Jon Bon Jovi, Tony Bennett, Jon Stewart, pop star Charlie Puth, actor Danny DeVito, comedian/host Chelsea Handler and many more will also take part in the special event.
The state of New Jersey currently has over 64,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and more than 2,300 have died from the virus, according to John Hopkins University.
Funds from the broadcast will support The New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, which provides aid to workers on the front lines of COVID-19 response and grants to organizations that service hard-hit communities.
Jersey 4 Jersey premieres April 22nd, 7:00 P.M. ET on ABC.
