ABC/Ida Mae AstuteIt’s been almost three years since singer Tamar Braxton released what she called her final album, Bluebird of Happiness. But now the singer has fallen in love with music again while recording her new single, “Crazy Kinda Love,” featured in the upcoming film True to the Game 2.
Expressing her excitement for the song, Tamar tells Billboard, “I’m just really excited about this project. This song and this whole project really got me into recording again and wanting to be an artist.”
“And I never thought that I wanted to have a record or to even have that kind of passion, and…this film and…this particular record has made me fall in love with music again,” she adds.
While Braxton did not confirm whether there’s be more music coming, she says, “The interest is definitely there. The spark has definitely been fired up. So we’ll see.”
Billboard exclusively previewed a trailer for the movie, as well as a snippet of “Crazy Kinda Love.” In addition to recording the song for the soundtrack, Tamar also appears in the movie as “Ariana,” a receptionist. Speaking to Billboard, Tamar describes the part as “not a huge role, but it’s an important one.”
True to the Game 2, due out this spring, tells the continuing story of Gena, played by Erica Peeples. She moves out of her dangerous neighborhood and becomes a journalist. She goes to L.A. for a big assignment, but her past comes back to haunt her when someone from her murdered boyfriend’s crew tries to avenge his death.
