Atlantic RecordsTank hopes to take his music to a higher level with his new Elevation album that he dropped Friday featuring Chris Brown, Omari Hardwick, Keith Sweat, Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men, and more.
The ninth studio album from the four-time Grammy nominee includes his single “Dirty,” which hit number one on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart.
Tank says the success of his previous album, Savage, which features his first platinum single “When We,” and also hitting number one with his seventh album, Sex Love & Pain II, inspired him to reach for greater achievements on Elevation.
“Those were major turning points, especially Sex Love and Pain II, Tank tells ABC Audio. “In having that success and having those moments, I’m always trying to figure out how to do more. How to be better. How to outdo that thing.”
The singer from Washington, D.C., says his goal for Elevation is to expand his sound and his audience.
“Elevation for me, even from a title standpoint, just speaks to that. We can do more with more with R&B in terms of where it lives,” Tank says “We can do more with R&B in terms of who listens to it, in terms of the subject matter. We can get back to some things. We can add some new things like we can do more and so let’s fight to push, to go higher.”
Tank is now performing on Fantasia’s The Sketchbook Tour, also featuring Robin Thicke and The Bonfyre. The tour kicked off October 17 in Columbia South Carolina and runs through December 6 in Los Angeles.
