Tiffany Haddish seemingly responds to The Kitchen critics after film tanks at the box office

by

ABC/Paula LoboTiffany Haddish is giving a major side eye to the critics who panned her new crime drama The Kitchen.

The film, directed by Andrea Berloff, is based on the DC/Vertigo comic series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle. It follows Haddish, Melissa McCarthy and Elizabeth Moss as wives of mobsters, who take over the family business after their husbands go to prison.

Although there were high hopes for the film and for Haddish, who was making her dramatic film debut after a series of successful comedies, critics gave the crime drama poor reviews: It only scored 21% on Rotten Tomatoes.

But Haddish isn’t letting the negative reviews get to her down.

“This is how I be Looking at the People that don’t have nice things to say,” Haddish wrote, captioning a image of herself giving the side eye in the film.

“Then I go pray for them and ask God to do them like they doing me,” she continued. “Let me break that down by saying I hope he puts them in my shoes and then change their heart.”

She then added the hastags “#DontmesswithGodschild” and #Ihavetowriteitalloutforthepeoplethatdontgetthepicture.”

In addition to the poor reviews, the film bought in a disappointing $5.5 million at the box office.

The Kitchen is still in theaters nationwide.
