Timbaland hints at a potential Verzuz battle between Usher and Justin Timberlake: Soon to come

by

RCA RecordsAfter Twitter fans spent the weekend debating over who’d win a Verzuz battle between Usher and Chris Brown, super producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz are taking suggestions for the second battle of the year.

During an appearance on ESPN’s show, Jalen & Jacoby Monday, former NBA star Jalen Rose threw out a few suggestions on who he’d like to see in a battle, including a matchup between Usher andJustin Timberlake.

Timbo said, “It’s so funny, Drake hit me up about it. He said, ‘We gotta make that happen.’ I’m like, ‘soon to come. Soon to come.'”

Rose also suggested a battle between more seasoned artists such as Busta Rhymes and Timbo’s longtime collaborator Missy Elliott. Timbo says it would be less of a battle and more of a celebration between the two music visionaries.

“It is, to me, the best party that could ever happen on Verzuz,” the super producer declared. “It’s just a matter of comfort zone of my sister wanting to celebrate with her brother. Understanding that it’s not a competition, it’s a party. I have been talking to her about that but I think that’s an amazing Verzuz.”

Additionally, Rose also suggested a battle with Birdman’s Cash Money Records and Master P‘s No Limit Records.

“If Gucci Mane and Jeezy can do it, anybody can do it,” adds Swizz. “Verzuz is a platform where we can put our differences aside and make it about the fans…the music and make it about love. Plus, we in a different day and age where we have to show the youth how to celebrate.”

The Verzuz platform broke a new record with last week’s season opener between R&B queens Ashantiand Keyshia Cole, which gained over 8.1 million views on Instagram Live and Apple Music.
