Tina Knowles-Lawson stopped by Tamron Hall on Wednesday to chat about landing a starring role in the Lifetime film Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story.

The 68-year-old businesswoman and mother to music superstars Beyoncé and Solange Knowles told Hall that while most of her family and friends were too busy to help prepare for her first-ever acting gig, her 10-year-old granddaughter, Blue Ivy, was not.

“Blue Ivy actually was the only person available that could help me learn my lines,” Tina said. Anytime she would fumble her lines, Blue Ivy would  let her know. “Grandma, I don’t know if this is for you,” she’d say.

Blue Ivy just wanted her grandmother to get it right. And considering the young star’s growing list of entertainment accolades, including her Guinness World Record as the youngest individually credited Grammy Award winner, Lawson said she was appreciative of her granddaughter’s advice.

Though she was “scared to death” to take on the role of Sarah, Tina also said on social media that parts of the performance “came easy.” In a clip of the upcoming film posted on Instagram, Lawson shares the screen alongside Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams, who plays Chastity Jeffries, Lawson’s daughter.

Her movie is just one of the many things Lawson is celebrating these days. She said she had “so much fun” voicing Ms. Gina in a recently aired episode of the Disney+ series The Proud Family. She also penned a loving note to her husband, Richard Lawson, in honor of their seventh wedding anniversary on April 12.

Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story premieres Saturday, April 16 on Lifetime.
