by

Harpo, Inc.Following news of her memoir, Tina Turner: My Love Story, and the upcoming Broadway musical based on her life, Tina Turner is now sharing more details of her amazing journey and her struggles in a new interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The music icon recalls the last conversation she had with her eldest son, Craig Turner, before he took his own life in July.

“First of all I didn’t believe it, because, me and Craig’s last talks were, ‘Mother, I’m so happy. I am really happy now,'” Turner tells Oprah in an advance clip from her SuperSoul Conversations podcast.

“The next time, he said, ‘I’ve met a woman that I have never felt that way about for a very long time,'” Turner recalls. “This was our last two conversations.”

Looking back, Turner admits she didn’t see any signs that something was wrong, but now she believes that her son did say a final goodbye to her, in his own way.

“The very last [conversation], he said, ‘Hi mother, I just want to hear your voice and that laugh,'” she recalls. “That one stuck out because he had never said that. I think that was his goodbye to me. But I didn’t realize that until this happened.”

Turner also talks with Oprah about her tumultuous past with her ex-husband Ike Turner.

According to Tina, in the upcoming Broadway musical, “It show[s] that [Ike] changed because of drugs, and also, he was paranoid that I would I would leave him like all the rest. And I think in some kind of way I really [started to understand] there was a little bit of sickness in there with Ike.”

Part one of Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations podcast with Tina Turner becomes available on Wednesday; part two comes out Thursday.
