Tinashe ties for first place on Dancing with the Stars season 27 premiere episode

by

ABC/Craig SjodinForget about “2 On” — Tinashe had 23 on the ballroom floor during Monday night’s premiere of season 27 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

The singer and her pro partner Brandon Armstrong tied for first place, scoring a 23/30 with their jive to Meghan Trainor’s song “I’m A Lady.” Judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Tinashe, “O.K. — You are a star!” and suggested that Brandon let her “shine a little more.”

One other contestant did as well as Tinashe: NFL star DeMarcus Ware, who also scored a 23/30 by dancing a cha cha with partner Lindsay Arnold.

Backstage, Tinashe told ABC Radio about her performance, “I’m super, super, super flattered. It’s exciting, but at the same time, a lot of pressure ’cause we have to come back tomorrow and, and do it again….I mean, I know that we have a lot to work on still.”
