Tracy Morgan taps Keenen Ivory Wayans as ‘The Last O.G.’ showrunner

ABC/Randy HolmesKeenan Ivory Wayans is headed back to television, thanks to Tracy Morgan.

Morgan has tapped Wayans as showrunner for the third season of his hit TBS series, The Last O.G. He replaces Saladin Patterson, who served as showrunner during season two. Wayans will also write and direct four episodes in addition to serving as an executive producer along with Morgan, Jordan Peeleand others.

“I’m thrilled and excited to be working with such a great cast, team of producers and reuniting with Tracy Morgan,” Wayans said in a statement. “Together we’re all going to take the show to the next level.”

This isn’t the first time Morgan and Wayans have worked together. In 2006, Morgan starred in Little Man, which Wayans wrote and directed.

The Last O.G., also starring Tiffany Haddish, follows Morgan as Tray, a recently released inmate who returns to his native Brooklyn after serving 15 years in prison. Unfortunately for Tray, he has trouble assimilating into a radically changed society, and also learns he’s the father of teenage twins.

A return date for The Last O.G. has yet to be announced.
