Tweet talks reuniting with her Oops (Oh My) collaborator Missy Elliott

Jim Spellman/WireImageSouthern Hummingbird Tweet is back in the studio putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to her 2016 album, Charlene.

The R&B singer tells ABC Audio her forthcoming effort is “done” but there’s still time to add a track with her long-time friend and “Oops (Oh My)” collaborator Missy Elliott.

“Absolutely,” says Tweet. “We have enough time to throw a song or two on there. We just love working together as far as creating music for other artists or whatever.”

Missy and Tweet co-wrote the lead single from Tweet’s 2002 debut, Southern Hummingbird. It was truly a team effort, pairing additional vocals from Missy with production by fellow Grammy-winning hitmaker Timbaland.

Together, Tweet and Missy have over 20 years of friendship and music-making history after meeting in the early 1990s, as artists under Devante Swing‘s music collective, Swing Mob. At the time, Tweet was a member of the female trio, Sugah.

Tweet’s fourth album is expected to arrive this year and unofficially titled…In Love, a nod to the “ins and outs of love,” as previously reported. The album will feature her latest single, “Never Felt This Way,” which details a relationship filled with “unconditional love” to reflect Tweet’s real-life relationship.
