by

Inage Courtesy RCA Records Following bitter profanity-laced attacks on social media, T-Pain gave into the backlash and removed his song “Girlfriend” featuring Aaliyah from The Iron Way mixtape he released Friday.

He tweeted, “I’m still tryin to figure out how ppl feel I dissed Aaliyah. I was talkin bout how ppl turn into WBC anytime somebody mentions her name.” One tweet summed up the many negative messages he received condemning using the voice of the icon who passed way in 2001 at the age of 22. It read, “He clearly disrespected Aaliyah’s name.”

As was previously reported, the artist/producer said at a New York City listening session for the tape, “I’ve seen people directly say, ‘He doesn’t deserve her records,'” he recalled. “I’m trying to figure out what the f**k did I do?”

The Iron Way, which originally had 21 songs, was released with only 20 songs. Lil Wayne, The-Dream, Yo GottiBun BBig K.R.I.T, Migos and K Camp are among the artists featured.
