On Monday a South Carolina man  filed papers court papers in Minnesota claiming to be Prince’s adopted son.  Norman Yates Carthens, in a written statement, said that not only was he adopted by Prince but that Prince in fact did leave behind a will in which Carthens was left $7 million.  The court filing offered no details or support for the claims.

The District Court in Minnesota on Monday also granted approval for another person claiming to be an heir to be subjected to genetic testing. According to TMZ that person is Regina Sorenson who says she is a half-sibling of Prince’s, a child of the late singer’s father.

Carver County probate judge Kevin Eide is dealing with a number of such claims including two people who purport to be descendants of Prince’s half-brother Duane Nelson Sr. and one person who claims to be Prince’s biological son.

Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, has said that she does not believe her late brother had a will and none apparently has been found to date.  Prince died from an overdose of the painkiller fentanyl on April 21 at age 57 at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota, outside of Minneapolis.
