by

Voltron RecordzTyrese‘s sixth studio effort, Black Rose, arrives Friday, and he’s urging fans to buy the album to support “real R&B.”

The singer to took to Instagram to reveal why he believes his long-awaited project is a testament of how viable the genre still is.

“F**k that!!! Let’s make a statement…. They say R&B is dead…. And the days of people running to a store to BUY FULL R&B ALBUMS – f**k that,” he writes.  He adds, “They say that R&B is insecure — They say that R&B gets no love and attention without HipHop – When is the last time you brought a FULL stand alone R&B album that doesn’t have 15 hip hop features? I wanna make a statement – REAL R&B fans I need your love.”

Black Rose will be Tyrese’s final studio effort, and follows up 2011’s Open Invitation and 2006’s Alter Ego.
