Uzo Aduba’s film ‘Miss Virginia’ gets fall release date

Rachel Luna/Getty ImagesThe forthcoming indie drama Miss Virginia, starring Orange Is the New Black standout Uzo Aduba, has finally set a release date.

According to Deadline, the film, which was picked up by Vertical Entertainment for North American distribution, will be released on October 18 in both theaters and via video on demand.

The film follows Aduba’s character, a struggling inner-city mother who moves her son to an affluent neighborhood in hopes of a better life. Unfortunately, the mother must now figure out how to pay the expensive private school tuition or risk having her son return to the dangerous public school.

Directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna, the film also stars Matthew ModineAunjanue Ellis and Vanessa Williams.

This is the latest project for Aduba, who won an Emmy for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren inOrange Is the New BlackOITNB returns to Netflix on Friday, July 26 for its seventh and final season.
