Randy Shropshire/Getty ImagesWale is channeling the late, great Michael Jackson with his new lead single, “My PYT”.

The rapper dropped the new track Thursday night on iTunes it’ll serve as the first single off his upcoming fifth studio album,S.H.I.N.E., which stands for “Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy.”

The track mixes Michael Jackson’s PYT hook into a auto-tuned ballad that’s a catchy, feel-good summer anthem.

“I wanna love you, pretty young thing/You need some lovin’ from a real one,” sings Sam Sneak while Wale lays down his respective verses on the Dope Boyz-produced track.

Wale explains how the track came about, revealing that the day he wrote the record, he met MJ’s mother, Katherine Jackson.

“It inspired me so much that it was pretty much all I could think about in the studio later that night,” Wale told EW. “I wanted to pay homage to the legend that is Michael in some way, and the chorus popped into my head and just felt right with the music. It’s just one of those songs that’s been omnipresent in my life since I was a kid.

“This is my first upbeat, ‘for the clubs’ record in years,” he added. “I’m coming back with an album of straight hits.”

Wale’s album, S.H.I.N.E., is due out this fall.
