ABC/ Lou RoccoTony Award-winner Cynthia Erivo is on a mission in her new film, Harriet.
The film, which just dropped its first trailer on Tuesday, stars Ervio as iconic freedom fighter Harriet Tubman.
“If I’m free, my family should be too,” Erivo says in the trailer. “I made up my mind, I’m going back.”
The film, directed by Eve’s Bayou helmer Kasi Lemmons, will follow Tubman’s escape from slavery and subsequent return to help free dozens of slaves via the Underground Railroad.
The film also stars Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Zackary Momoh, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Deborah Ayorinde and Clarke Peters.
Harriet hits theaters October 1.
