Watch John Legend put the other Voice coaches to shame in new promo

by

Trae Patton/NBCKelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton will be welcoming John Legend to the big red chairs as a coach on The Voice February 25.  Now, in a new promo, John proves why the other three coaches should be worried about him.

In the clip, posted on People.com, Adam asks Kelly and Blake, “What are you guys worried about?”  To which Kelly responds, “I mean, John Legend’s an Emmy winner, a Grammy, Oscar, Tony — it’s a lot!”  Blake dismisses her concerns, saying, “I’m not worried.”

Then, the three encounter one of those giant light-up pianos, like the kind Tom Hanks danced on in the movie Big Adam, Kelly and Blake start dancing on it, playing the song “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.  Then John shows up.

“You guys sound pretty cool — mind if I jump in?” he asks.

But as soon as he hits the keyboard, John starts playing all kinds of fancy notes and chords, blowing the other three judges away.

“Isn’t this fun, guys?” he asks innocently, before doing backflips down the piano keyboard.

“Shoulda seen that coming,” says a dismayed Blake. “Now I’m worried,” adds Kelly.

Meanwhile, John joined Kelly onstage over the weekend when her Meaning of Life tour hit Los Angeles. The two duetted on “Run Run Run,” a song they originally recorded for Kelly’s 2015 album Piece by Piece. You can watch the entire performance now on Kelly’s YouTube channel.
