Watch KEM’s soulful Tiny Desk (Home) Concert performance

by

Motown RecordsR&B soul singer KEM is the lastest artist to appear on NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series.

Recorded in his hometown of Detroit, KEM comforted fans at home with a delightful melody of songs from his latest album, Love Always Wins.

Accompanied by guitarist Michael “Nomad” Ripoll and saxophone player David McMurray, KEM performed “Friend Today” and “Lonely.” But the most “special” song from his performance was of his latest romantic ballad, “Not Before You.”

“I wrote this song for my wife, Erica,” said KEM. “If you get my album love always wins, when you hear this song on the album, what you’re listening to is my demo vocals. I never got around to laying the real vocals. This song is special.”

Love Always Wins, is available everywhere, featuring KEM’s chart-topping single, “Lie to Me,” and duets with Toni Braxton and Erica Campbell. “Lie” marks KEM’s sixth #1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart.
