Image Group LA/ABCIt looks like Christmas came early for The Weeknd: He previewed a new track Tuesday while driving a new all-electric Mercedes in a commercial for the ride.
The three-time Grammy winner stars in a new ad campaign for the 2020 EQC SUV which features his new song, “Blinding Lights.”
The clip begins as The Weeknd is powering his new SUV, and a young boy with a skateboard remarks in admiration, “Whoa, you drive electric?” The singer then takes us on a ride as the clip cuts back and forth from classic cars in the past to the present.
In the middle of the video, the singer says, “Hey Mercedes, play ‘Blinding Lights’,” and of course, the car fulfills his command.
The commercial ends with the caption, “Watch the full film with The Weeknd from November 29.”
No word so far if “Blinding Lights” will be included on The Weeknd’s next album. His most recent album, Starboy, was released in November 2016.
The “Call Out My Name” singer makes his acting debut in the film Uncut Gems, starring Adam Sandler, which opens December 13.
