What’s the holdup? August Alsina blames trash record label for new album delay

by

Image Group LA/ABCWith the year nearly over, fans have been wondering when August Alsina‘s third album, Drugs, will arrive.

The disc was slated to be released this year, but August says don’t blame him for the delayed release — he says it’s label Def Jam Recordings’ fault.

“I would love to put my album out but DEF JAM is holding it/me hostage because the system is not up & running until next year so they basically dont [sic] exist,” August tweeted Monday, adding, “The label is just TRASH.. I will release free music soon but that has been the hold up. Tell Them to FREE ME & the Album.”

August dropped several new tracks — including the title track for Drugs — and music videos this year.

The 25-year-old star also revealed his battle with liver disease on social media this May, sharing that he was “sicker than ever & having a hard time accepting what I feel & what the Doctors are saying is most true.”

Alsina’s sophomore album, This Thing Called Life, was released in 2015.
