Kevork Djansezian/Getty ImagesEarlier this week, documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield announced that he was planning to direct a Whitney Houston movie. However, Houston’s family is not on board.
“The Whitney Houston Estate has no involvement in this program whatsoever,” the family said in a statement issued to Rolling Stone. Houston’s family also was not involved in Lifetime’s made-for-TV biopic Whitney, directed by Angela Bassett last year.
Although a release date has yet to be unveiled, Broomfield’s flick will depict the rise and fall of the late legend and “goes in search of the forces that made and then destroyed the singer who has been described as having one of the greatest voices of the last 50 years.”
