Will Louise return? Jennifer Hudson hypes up reviving her ‘Sex and the City’ character

by

ABC Jennifer Hudson hints at reviving her character Louise from St. Louis on the upcoming Sex and the City revival. Fans loved Hudson as Carrie Bradshaw’s beloved assistant in the 2008 film of the same title.

The singer and actress tells Entertainment Tonight she has “yet” to receive any calls from the show’s lead  Sarah Jessica Parker or the cast about bringing back her character, but she’s definitely open to it.

“Not yet! But I am interested,” says Hudson. “I hope so, that would be cool. I am down, I am down!”

Hudson’s suggestion arrives just days after the Sex and the City franchise announced a forthcoming reboot on HBO Max titled, And Just Like That….

The revival will reunite Parker with Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, who played, respectively, Miranda and Charlotte. They’ll all serve as co-stars and executive producers of the show. However, Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, has vowed not to return. Sex and the City ran on HBO from 1998 to 2004 for six seasons, which led to the first Sex and the City film, followed by a sequel in 2010.

While the #SATC project is likely to begin production soon, Hudson’s animated film, Baba Yaga, is complete and set to be released exclusively on the virtual reality app, Oculus Quest, on Jan. 14.

Meanwhile, fans are anxiously awaiting the release of the Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect. Hudson says the film could likely arrive this summer after a delayed release due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The last I heard, it was August, so get ready for it because this is the year of Respect,” she declares.
