Workers from Six Companies Planning Historic Strike

In an unprecedented move, workers from six major U.S. companies have banded together for a planned strike to protest their working conditions during the coronavirus pandemic. The strike, planned for Friday, is set to involve employees of Amazon, Walmart, FedEx, Target, Instacart, and Whole Foods, organizers say. They say they’ve been forced to risk their lives while their employers’ profits have skyrocketed during the pandemic. To protest, the workers say they’ll either call in sick or walk off their jobs during their lunch breaks on Friday, which is International Workers’ Day. The workers are demanding back pay for unpaid time off they’ve used, hazard pay for the remainder of the pandemic, company-provided protective equipment and cleaning supplies, and increased transparency from their bosses regarding the number of COVID-19 cases in their workplaces.

Do the workers have valid complaints?
