Joel Osteen has gotten major social media shade over the past few days from people accusing him of being non caring and non christian over reports that his Lakewood Church in Houston remained closed while Hurricane Harvey evacuees needed shelter.
Osteen has released a statement regarding the status of his church.
“We have never closed our doors,” Senior Pastor Joel Osteen said in a statement quoted by ABC and the Atlanta Journal-Constitutution. “We will continue to be a distribution center to those in need. We are prepared to house people once shelters reach capacity. Lakewood will be a value to the community in the aftermath of this storm.”
The complaints started when the church posted on Sunday that it was “inaccessible due to severe flooding.”
