Gospel artist James Fortune is now an author having released his memoir “Destiny DeRailed.”
In his book Fortune shares his transparent story of redemption after a series of unfortunate events left him in the thick of public scandal and private despair.
In 2003 he pleaded guilty to felony injury to a child and received six years deferred adjudication. According to a civil lawsuit, Fortune burned his stepson leaving the boy disfigured with severe burns over nearly 50% of the child’s body. In October 2014, Fortune was arrested after a heated dispute with his wife, Cheryl Fortune, and was charged with aggravated assault of a family member.
Fortune says that the book is not just about his story, but about helping to empower every person who has been knocked off course, experienced loss, let themselves down, or thought that a situation they’ve experienced disqualified them from God’s promises.
“Destiny DeRailed” is available now.
