BHM: Debi Thomas 1986 Olympic Champ

Debi Janine Thomas, American figure and two-time U.S. national champion and the first African American to win an Olympic medal in figure skating at the 1988 Winter Games.  She won a bronze medal in 1988.  Debi studied at Stanford and became an orthopedic surgeon but in 2015 it was revealed that Debi suffers from mental illness.  Nevertheless Debi is still one of the greatest figure skaters in history.
