Debi Janine Thomas, American figure and two-time U.S. national champion and the first African American to win an Olympic medal in figure skating at the 1988 Winter Games. She won a bronze medal in 1988. Debi studied at Stanford and became an orthopedic surgeon but in 2015 it was revealed that Debi suffers from mental illness.
