PETA Wants Aretha Franklin Furs As someone pointed out on Twitter, “you know who PETA never came for? Aretha Franklin!” Well that is about to change. PETA sent a letter to Aretha’s niece expressing their condolences and then asking that her furs be donated to homeless shelters in the United States and to displaced refugees. In the letter PETA wrote, by donating Aretha Franklin’s fur coats to PETA, her family could expand her legacy of social justice to animals. Some people complained that PETA did not do enough to stop Aretha from wearing furs. PETA stated they sent her a letter in 2008 asking her to stop wearing furs but to no avail. Aretha Franklin has not been buried yet, is it most inappropriate for PETA to make this request. In Detroit giving up your fur is not a very popular concept because of the brutal winters. Ms. Aretha’s fur collection belongs in the Smithsonian.
PETA has bad timing to say the least.
